Frequently Asked Questions about Motorcycle Insurance?
Have questions about motorcycle insurance? We have the answers. While the below FAQs provide a general overview, we encourage you to contact our expert brokers for advice that's specific to your situation.
Can I just insure my motorcycle through ICBC?
You can certainly choose to insure entirely through ICBC. However, for some clients, better coverage and pricing can be achieved through a private insurer. Our team will help determine the best option for you.
Does my Home Insurance cover my Motorcycle during the Off Season?
No, Home Insurance policies do not cover motorcycles, or any other licensed motor vehicle. Having a private motorcycle policy ensures your bike is safeguarded against loss or damage throughout the year.
Can I cancel your private insurance during the off-season if I only use my Motorcycle in the summer?
Private motorcycle policies are designed with the understanding that most bikes are primarily used during the summer months. Therefore, there is minimal to no refund if policies are canceled mid-term. Exceptions can be made, for example, if a bike is sold. It's beneficial to keep your bike protected year-round as Home Insurance does not cover motorcycles in storage.
Do I still need ICBC if I purchase a private Motorcycle Policy?
Yes, before you hit the road, you must obtain Basic ICBC Autoplan along with any Extended Third Party Liability you wish to carry. If your bike is off the road, then ICBC is not required as your bike remains protected through the Private Motorcycle Insurer.
How much does Private Motorcycle Insurance cost?
Many factors can affect your premium, such as your riding history, the type of bike you own, and the coverage options you select. Rates for most motorcycle insurers start around $225 per year. For an exact quote, please contact us.
